Dr. Tan Hui Yin (Class of 2007)

Dr. Tan Hui Yin is currently the Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC). She is also holding the position as Research Group Leader at the Centre for Bioscience and Food Science Research at the university. Dr. Tan Hui Yin first joined TAR UC in 2012 as a Senior Lecturer. She was awarded the BSc (Honours) in Biochemistry degree with first class honours at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2007. Dr. Tan graduated her PhD with distinction in Applied Microbiology, also in Universiti Putra Malaysia under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ho Yin Wan, Professor Dr Norhani Abdullah and the late Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sieo Chin Chin. Her works involved heavily on the mitigation of methane production in ruminants, as well as the effects of condensed tannins towards gut microbiota. Following the completion of her PhD, Dr Tan became a scientist in the Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI), a non-profit scientific organization that provides scientific expertise to solve agricultural and environmental issues. Dr. Tan has lead and completed a number of external funded research projects. Additionally, she is currently playing a role as a co-researcher at the national level for an internally funded research projects. She has published a lot of her works in ISI-cited, as well as Q1 and Q2 journals. Impressively, she has presented her research in more than 30 national and international conferences. Apart of being actively involved in research, Dr. Tan also teaches technical courses at the TAR UC and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In accordance with her achievements, she has been awarded with Young Scientist, Best Scientific Presentation and Innovation Awards.
