Food sovereignty is the right of people to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems. It allows communities to control over the way food is produced, traded and consumed.

The growth in demand for food, however, outstrips the supply due mainly to increasing income and population as well as production constraints such as lack of entrepreneurship and technological adoption. This conference therefore attempts to deliberate the role of agropreneurship as a driver for sustainable food production.
