DAY 4 OF CULTURAL VISIT
On the last day, we went to two places; Masjid Putra in Putrajaya and Muzium Warisan Melayu in the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM to complete our cultural visit.
Masjid Putra is a symbolic landmark in Putrajaya as it is located next to Perdana Putra, the Office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Putrajaya Lake, a famous relaxing place. We got a briefing from the mosque representative and managed to tour the mosque. Its rose-tinted granite structure and striking pink domes caught our eyes and we understood the common name given by the locals called “The Pink Mosque”.
We also visited Muzium Warisan Melayu, a must visit heritage museum in UPM. There are a lot of daggers, which are fighting knives used by malay warriors called keris, classic women’s jewellery such as anklets, bracelets and a few malay outfits that reminds us towards the old era of Malay people. The participants seemed very pleased to know more about Malay culture and history.
