SMART Tunnel Visit


The technical visit offers the participants an opportunity to learn first-hand the SMART (Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel) system components and operation. SMART is a unique and an innovative project of the Government of Malaysia to alleviate flood problem and ease traffic congestion in the City Center of Kuala Lumpur. It is equipped with a sophisticated flood detection system issuing real time flood forecasting information and a remote control system executing flood control actions.

High Altitude Balloons & Miniature Probes

In this hands-on programme, participants will be introduced to high-altitude balloons and probes that can be used to monitor the environment. Participants will have the opportunity to create miniature probes from recycled materials, then release them from a tethered balloon system at a height of around 100 m. Mini-competitions such best design, best estimation of landing point, etc will be conducted to maximise the fun.

Agrovoltaic Farming Showcase

Participants will be taken to visit AgroPV Integrated SB, the first Agrivoltaic company in South East Asia, and their  2 MWp Solarfar in Puchong that produces 2 tonne raw MK Herbs/harvest. Agrovoltaics is the concurrent use of land for agriculture and solar power production, a strategy towards income diversification, energy resilience, and a reduced carbon footprint.

Incident Command System


This Incident Command System (ICS) is a standardized framework that enables federal, state and local government to work together to prepare for, mitigate, prevent, respond and recover from the effects of incidents. ICS is developed mainly by the United States Forest Services (USFS) and had now been used by more than 20 countries.

Through discussion and exercise, participants will:

  1. Be able to understand the overview of the Incident Command System and how it works in an incident.
  2. Be able to understand the role of the Incident Commander and the Command and General Staff.
  3. Be able to understand and develop Specific, Measurable, Action-Oriented (SMART) objectives.
