Day 1 of Cultural Visit

DAY 1 OF CULTURAL VISIT

On the 1st day of cultural visit, the committee and participants of International Agriculture Students Symposium (IASS) visited Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery as the first destination of the day.

Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery are built up of six permanent galleries which are Children’s Gallery, the Bank Negara Malaysia Gallery, Economics Gallery, Islamic Gallery, Numismatics Gallery and Art Gallery. These galleries delve into the Malaysian economy, the Bank’s role in the nation’s economic development and financial landscape since pre-independence to the present day.

We also visited the famous central market in Petaling Street which is also known as an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists. The market consists of hundreds of stalls lined in the streets with authentic handicrafts, fabulous boutiques, traditional Malaysian batik items and also numerous souvenirs.

Due to our vicinity to its location, we also decided to visit the Saturday Night Market at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman which is one of the largest night market in Malaysia . The night market usually opens on Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm. There are a lot of things that can be found here such as foods, accessories, souvenirs, fabrics, bags and many more.

These markets offer both things to eat and items for sale, such as clothes and household items. Possibly to our luck, we came early to the market and the participants were able to buy some souvenirs for them to bring back home.

These destinations managed to give the participants a taste of the true meaning of Malaysian culture. Moreover, places like these are also a great form of escape from life hassles especially after a long week of presentations..
