About Human Ecology International Conference 2026
INTRODUCTION
The Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was established on 1 April 1992. Since its inception, FEM has been committed to becoming a leading international education institution and reference centre in the field of human ecology by focusing on the dynamics of human–environment interactions, encompassing psychological, social, cultural, economic, and ecological dimensions. This commitment aligns with UPM’s True North aspiration, which emphasizes sustainable and holistic human development and well-being.
Recognizing the importance of safeguarding societal well-being, FEM intends to organize the Second National Conference on Human Ecology / Human Ecology International Conference 2026 (HEIC-II) under the theme “Sustaining Human Well-being.” This conference is a continuation of HEIC-I, which was successfully held from 18 to 20 April 2017.
HEIC-II aims to bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including academicians, researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community leaders, to share research findings, innovative ideas, and best practices towards the sustainability of human ecology. Beyond serving as a multidisciplinary platform for knowledge exchange, the conference also seeks to foster strategic collaborations among universities, communities, industries, and ministries/agencies at both national and international levels.
Therefore, the organization of HEIC-II not only strengthens cross-sectoral networks in exploring sustainable solutions for human well-being, but also highlights UPM’s True North commitment to integrity, sustainability, synergy, and inclusive community engagement. By focusing on key issues related to human well-being, the conference is expected to make a meaningful contribution to society, enhance FEM’s reputation as a centre of excellence in human ecology, and reinforce UPM’s role as a premier institution in advancing human development grounded in knowledge, innovation, and social responsibility.
