SPEAKER 1

 

As Chief Executive Officer at NEAS Australia, Adam Kilburn brings extensive experience in the English Language Teaching sector. He has over 30 years of experience in the ELT industry, having held a range of management positions in academic, marketing and general management roles. Amongst these, he managed a teacher training (CELTA) centre and ran a multiple campus operation in Vietnam. Adam has also consulted to the ELT industry in Canada and various states of Australia, working with both public and private, large and small providers. With a Master of Arts (Language and Literacy) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Adam’s academic qualifications complement his practical insights, enabling him to drive business improvement and foster collaborative engagement within the ELT sector.

 

SPEAKER 2

Assoc. Prof. Pham Vu Phi Ho, Ph.D., is the Assoc. Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Van Lang University, Vietnam. He used to be a Vice-President of Ba Ria – Vung Tau University and Vice-President at Van Hien University, Vietnam. He is the Vice President for Administrative Affairs of AsiaCALL and the managing editor of its Online Journal. He is now the Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of TESOL & Education. He is an editorial staff member for the Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics (Scopus-Q2) and a peer reviewer for some international journals indexed in ISI/Scopus, such as Computer Assisted Language Learning and Open Sage. His main interests include Academic Writing, peer responses, translation, Teaching methodologies, and Technology-enhanced learning.

 

 

WORKSHOP 1

 

Dr. Wagheeh Shukry Hassan has played a significant role in changing the use of technology in Malaysia's education system. Previously as the Deputy Director of Learning Platforms at the Ministry of Education Malaysia, he had been involved in developing and coordinating digital learning platforms for teachers and students, such as the DELIMa learning platform. His work had been instrumental in democratizing digital learning at scale and ensuring equitable access to learning resources for teachers and learners, particularly in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Shukry has also been involved in initiatives to improve education through technology, including the use of artificial intelligence tools and big data to support student-led learning pathways. His expertise and contributions have been recognized at both national and international levels.

 

 

WORKSHOP 2

 

Fadia Rashaa Mohammed & Nur ‘Abidah binti Abd Samad are instructors at ELS UPM.

 

Fadia received her MSc TESOL from the University of Edinburgh, UK before embarking on her doctorate with UiTM Puncak Alam in 2021. Her areas of expertise cover teaching ESL/EFL, training, module development and assessment of English language learners and teachers. Her extensive academic and professional experience built over a decade has comprised wide-ranging duties as a TESOL teacher and trainer to a diverse client base allowing her to develop materials based on learners’ specific needs.

 

Abidah is an accomplished Senior Instructor with extensive experience in teaching and educational leadership. 13 years of her professional journey includes her roles in curriculum development, test preparations and assessment moderation, teacher mentoring, and training. She has been involved as an online coach in the annual English Language Ambassador Essay Writing Competition, a collaborative effort between ELS Malaysia and the Ministry of Education. The distinct setting of pedagogy in her current position has equipped her with the ability to effectively bridge cultural and linguistic gaps, fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.


WORKSHOP 3

Prof. Zuraidah Mohd Don has built up a balanced academic profile, and has not only developed strengths in research and publication and in teaching, but has also contributed to the university’s ‘third mission’ to the local community, especially in early education. Her research covers a wide field centred on the study of language, ranging from Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis to Corpus Linguistics, Language Structure and English Language Teaching.
