Dr. Emile Badih Yaacoub is a distinguished academic and renowned scholar of the Arabic language, born in Kfaraakka, Lebanon, on July 11, 1950. He has dedicated nearly half a century of his life to education, research, and scholarly writing.
Holding dual bachelor’s degrees in Arabic Language and Psychology, he went on to earn two doctoral degrees in Arabic Language and Literature—one from Saint Joseph University and another from the Lebanese University—both awarded with high honors.
Appointed as a Professor at the Lebanese University in 1999, Dr. Yaacoub has played a significant role in curriculum development, teacher training, and academic leadership. His contributions include serving as Head of the Arabic Language Department and as an academic advisor for educational institutions and national development projects. He has also delivered lectures and presented research at numerous seminars and conferences both in Lebanon and abroad.
A prolific scholar, Dr. Emile has authored over 60 original works and encyclopedias in the fields of linguistics, grammar, literature, proverbs, and Arabic poetry. His publications include dictionaries, textbooks, biographical studies, editions of classical manuscripts, and encyclopedic volumes that have become key references in the Arab world.
Dr. Yaacoub’s passion for the Arabic language extends beyond academic interest—it encompasses cultural preservation and heritage. His in-depth studies of Lebanese folklore, folk songs, and classical poetry reflect a lifelong dedication to enriching and safeguarding the Arabic linguistic tradition.
